About Tadcaster Theatre and Dance School

Take the First Steps to New Possibilities 

Our mission at Tadcaster Theatre and Dance School is to provide students of all levels with more than just dance classes, but a unique experience in which the student can grow both emotionally and physically as a dancer. Our highly trained and certified instructors have a wealth of experience in teaching and performing various styles and disciplines. Here at Tadcaster Theatre and Dance School, we have a passion for the art of dance and for helping others discover their inner dancer. Classes are currently running for 3-10 year olds. Embrace Your Love of Dance

Pre School Class 

September 2026

Saturday: 9.00-9.45am 

This class is designed for pre school children (3-4years). In this session we introduce the fundamentals of movement and dance, explored through song, character and imagination. This includes the introduction of all genres of theatre dance, such as, ballet, tap, modern jazz, gym and musical theatre/theatre craft.

Foundation Class

September 2026
Saturday: 9.45-10.30am

This class is designed for Reception children (4-5 years).

This session builds on the fundamentals put in place in our pre-school class. Through song, imagination and creative movement we will develop the children's skills and basic technique in all theatre genres, including tap, ballet, modern jazz and musical theatre/theatre craft.

Pre-Preparatory Class

September 2026
Saturday: 11.00-11.45am

This class is designed for year 1 children (5-6years). 

This session introduces our first steps and pre-primary syllabus to begin to hone the basic technique of beginners theatre dance. We begin to focus more in depth on our ballet work whilst still enjoying developing further in all aspects of theatre dance including tap, modern jazz and music theatre/theatre craft.

Acro Stars

September 2026
Saturday: 10.30-11.00am

This class is designed for Reception and Year 1 pupils (4-6 years) and will fully focus on Acro. Dancers will develop strength, flexibility, balance and tumbling skills through safe, progressive training, while building confidence and body awareness.

Preparatory Class

September 2026

Wednesday: 5.00-6.00pm

Thursday: 5.00-6.00pm

This class is designed for Year 2 students (6-7 years). The session will further develop the children's knowledge of theatre dance through the introduction of the preparatory syllabus covering all four subjects (ballet, tap, modern and theatre craft). All classes are directed with enthusiasm and passion to create a warm and fun filled environment to develop the love of dance!

Mini Musical Theatre

September 2026
Saturday: 11.45am-12.15pm

This class is designed for Year 2 pupils (6-7 years).

This fun filled session will give young performers the opportunity to build confidence and creativity through singing, dancing and acting, bringing stories and characters to life on stage.

Mini Acro

September 2026
Saturday: 12.15-12.45pm

This class is designed for year 2 children (6-7years) and solely focuses on Acro. 

This lively class combines dance technique with flexibility, balance and acrobatic skills to help young dancers grow in confidence, coordination and strength.

Our Juvenile and Junior Classes

for ages 7-10 years! (Year 3, 4 and 5)

Year 3 Juvenile Ballet, Tap and Modern

Wednesday: 6.00-7.30pm

Juvenile Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all dance technique. We will be continuing with syllabus and free work through the introduction of the barre and further exploration of expressive repertoire. 

Juvenile Tap

We will be continuing to develop our tap through syllabus and fun free work. We will be introducing more diverse and complex rhythms whilst consolidating our technique.

Juvenile Modern 

Contemporary Modern Jazz is one of the most popular forms of dance today. We will be continuing to develop our technical jazz technique and limber through syllabus and free work. We will be exploring all styles including lyrical, contemporary and jazz. 

Year 4 and 5 Junior Ballet, Tap and Modern

Tuesday: 5.00-6.30pm

Junior Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all dance technique. We will be continuing with syllabus and free work through the introduction of the barre and further exploration of expressive repertoire.

Juvenile and Junior Musical Theatre

Thursday: 6.00-6.30pm

In this session we will be introducing script work as well as continuing to develop our singing. We will also be covering stylised dance through syllabus and free work. This session will be fantastic for those who love all aspects of musical theatre!

Juvenile and Junior Acro

Thursday: 6.30-7.00pm

Acrobatic dance or gymnastic dance is a collaboration of tricks and dance. We will be developing our strength, flexibility and tricks further through syllabus and free work with the introduction of new equipment.
